How to Apply for Rakuten Mobile Without Using a Rakuten ID

What is applying for Rakuten Mobile without a Rakuten ID

This method allows you to apply for Rakuten Mobile without logging in or signing up as a Rakuten member.
After completing your application, you can receive contract benefits and Rakuten Point by upgrading to a Rakuten membership.
There are certain restrictions when applying without a Rakuten ID. Please check them before applying.

*To receive campaign benefits and Rakuten Point, you may need to upgrade to Rakuten membership by the specified deadline (please check individual campaign rules for details).
*You can upgrade to Rakuten membership at any time after completing your application.

Restrictions

The following restrictions apply when applying for Rakuten Mobile without a Rakuten ID.

All restrictions will be lifted upon upgrading to Rakuten membership.

*To receive campaign benefits and Rakuten Point, you may need to upgrade to Rakuten membership by the specified deadline (please check individual campaign rules for details).

Regarding Applications
  • Applications can only be made through "my Rakuten Mobile (Web)".
  • Only Rakuten SAIKYO Plan and Rakuten Turbo plans are available.
    *However, you cannot transfer from Super Hodai, Combination Plan, or Komikomi Plan on Rakuten Mobile (docomo network/au network) to the Rakuten SAIKYO Plan.
  • The following application methods are not available:
    • Applications through "my Rakuten Mobile (App)"
    • Applications for Rakuten SAIKYO Plan (Data Type)
    • Applications at Rakuten Mobile shops (stores)
    • Applications through Rakuten Mobile Support
    • Applications through the Rakuten Mobile Official Rakuten Ichiba Store
Regarding Rakuten Point
  • Rakuten Point from Rakuten Mobile line usage (1 point per ¥100 excl. tax) will not be awarded.
  • Points from various campaigns will not be awarded.
    *To receive campaign points, you may need to upgrade to Rakuten membership by the specified deadline (check individual campaign rules for details).
  • SPU (Super Point Up Program) is not applicable.
    *By upgrading to Rakuten membership by the end of the month, you become eligible for this benefit from that month.
  • Payment using Rakuten Point is not available.
Regarding Rakuten Ecosystem Benefits
  • Services requiring Rakuten ID login, such as Rakuten PointClub and Rakuten Ichiba app, are not available.
  • Member-exclusive services such as Rakuten Pacific-League Special for Rakuten Mobile, Rakuten Music, Rakuten Magazine, Rakuten TV, and Rakuten Drive are not available.
Regarding Optional Services
  • Free calling app "Rakuten Link" is not available.
  • "Raku Mail" service within the Rakuten Link app is not available.
    *You can still set up an email address.
  • Insurance claims for the SAIKYO Protection bundled insurance under the "SAIKYO Protection" security option require a Rakuten ID for subscriber verification.
Other
  • When setting up Anshin Control for the first time, you will need to log in with your Rakuten membership. If you applied for Rakuten Mobile without using a Rakuten ID, you will need to upgrade to become a Rakuten member.
    *Anshin Control contract is mandatory for minors.
  • "SAIKYO YOUTH Discount" and "SAIKYO KIDS Discount" cannot be joined.
  • Some identity verification methods are restricted during contract signup.
    *You cannot simplify verification using documents already submitted to Rakuten Group.
  • While you can transfer your contract to another person, you cannot become the new contract holder of a transferred communication service contract.

  2. 2. Tap "Proceed without Rakuten account" on the login screen

    Then follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with your application.

About post-application activation procedures

Please follow the procedures according to your SIM type using "my Rakuten Mobile" app.

For SIM Cards
About a week after application completion, we will send you activation instructions. After receiving them, follow the Start Guide to complete the activation process.

*Shipping status can be checked via email or "my Rakuten Mobile".

For eSIM
Log in to "my Rakuten Mobile (App)" and follow the displayed instructions to complete the activation process.

How to log in after application

*Depending on the identity verification method used during application, you may be able to proceed with activation immediately after applying.

How to log in after application

  1. 1. Access the login screen and tap "Proceed without Rakuten account"

  2. 2. Select the authentication code delivery method and tap "SEND"

    Please enter the phone number or email address to receive the code, then tap "SEND".

  3. 3. Enter the received authentication code and tap "Authentication"

    *Screen below shows SMS authentication example.
  4. 4. Login complete

About upgrading to Rakuten membership

Customers who applied for Rakuten Mobile without a Rakuten ID can upgrade to Rakuten membership anytime. Upgrading allows for more convenient service use.

There are two ways to upgrade:

  • Upgrade using an existing Rakuten ID
  • Upgrade by newly registering as a Rakuten member

How to upgrade

  1. 1. Tap "Upgrade to Rakuten Member" in "my Rakuten Mobile (Web)"

    *You'll find this button on the home screen, "Contract Information" screen, and "Rakuten Point Usage" screen.

  2. 2. Enter User ID and password to log in

    *If you don't have a Rakuten ID, tap "Create a new Rakuten account (free)" and complete the new member registration.

  3. 3. Upgrade complete

    After completing the upgrade, please use "my Rakuten Mobile" by logging in as a Rakuten member.

    *If the upgrade to Rakuten membership fails, please contact our support desk.
