Common mistakes made while submitting the identity verification documents
Before submitting your identity verification documents, please check the common mistakes below.Rakuten Mobile requires you to submit identity verification documents at the time of application.
It may take some time before Rakuten services are provided, if there are any issues with the submitted identity verification documents, you have to reupload them.
Even if the pronunciation of the name is same, if there is a difference between the identity verification document which is going to be submitted and the name of the contractor information, it will be considered as incomplete.Please confirm that the notation of the contractor information displayed on the application screen matches the notation of the identity verification document to be uploaded, and change the contractor information if necessary.

The following are examples of mistakes due to difference in the name of the identity verification documents and the subscriber information.
  • If there is a difference between katakana and kanji
    (Example) スズキ、鈴木
  • If there is a difference between romaji and katakana
    (Example) Kevin、ケヴィン
  • If there is a difference between the old font and the new font
    (Example) 髙橋、高橋
  • If there is a difference between the common name and the real name
    For foreign nationals, please register using the name on your residence card or special permanent resident certificate.
  • If there is a difference due to a different name
    When transferring from another company, please match the name before the transfer with the name on the application.
  • If there is a difference between your maiden name and current name
    Please prepare an identity verification document that shows your current Last name(Family name).
  • If the middle name is entered incorrectly
    In the "Last Name" field, enter the name as it appears on your residence card or special permanent resident certificate up to the first space.
    In the "First Name" field, enter the name after the first space in the order it appears on your residence card or special permanent resident certificate.

    (Example)[Residence card or Special permanent resident certificate] RAKUTEN TARO MOBILE
    * Last Name field: Rakuten
    * First Name field: Taro Mobile
  • If your name has only last name or first name and the part you inputted is incorrect
    In the "Last Name" field, First two letters of alphabet of your name described in your identification card.
    In the "First Name" field, From the third letter. To the last.

    (Example)[Residence card or special permanent resident certificate] RAKUTEN
    * Last Name field: Ra
    * First Name field: kuten
  • When kanji and romaji are written together
    If your name on your residence card or special permanent resident certificate is written in both kanji and romaji, please register all in romaji.
    (Example) Name: 楽天 太郎 NAME: RAKUTEN TARO
    Correct: RAKUTEN TARO
    Wrong: 楽天 太郎
  • The identity verification document you submitted must match the address of the registered contractor information.
    If there is a problem with your registered information, please refer to "What should I do if my identity verification fails?" for how to change it.
    Also, if the address listed on the identity verification documents is not the latest, please use the identity verification documents that can confirm the latest information, such as submitting your health insurance card and supporting documents, to verify your identity.

    Here are some common examples of different addresses:If there is a missing part in the address you enteredPlease make sure that the city, ward, building you live in, room number, etc. are not missing.When there is a difference in the room number of an apartment, etc.If you live in a condominium or apartment, please check if the room number is correct.
    It is necessary that the date of birth in the identity verification document and the contractor information matches.

    If the image of the identity verification document is not clear, the contents may not be confirmed.
    Please make sure that the uploaded identity verification documents do not fall under any of the following items.
  • The identity verification document you submitted is not clear (blurred or poor image quality, etc.)
  • A part of the submitted identity verification document is reflected
    ※By turning off the flash function of the camera, you can suppress strong reflections.
  • The submitted document cannot be verified entirely.
  • Please prepare your identity verification documents which is still valid.

    For foreign customers, please submit your residence card or special permanent resident certificate.
    Documents that do not meet the screening criteria cannot be accepted. In that case, please apply after renewing your residence card or special permanent resident certificate.
